Sounds like a Google toolbar error.
Have you updated to the latest version yet? toolbar.google.com (v6)
Problems like yours are always caused by Old Addons. Test by running IE in
no-Addons mode (Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Internet Explorer
(no Addons).
Check with the vendors of any toolbars you have installed for updates.
