Can't Download Anything from Internet Explorer 8

I can't download anything anymore from Internet Explorer. What should I do?
This problem has been going on for the last several weeks. I'm using
Internet Explorer 8. Do you think that could be the problem? I've been
using Google Chrome instead for downloading stuff, and I'm having no trouble
with that.

Assuming that you *could* download with IE8 for a while...
1. Start Internet Explorer without add-ons from:
Right-click the IE icon on the desktop. Choose Start without add-ons.
or
Programs> Accessories> System tools> Internet Explorer (no add-ons)
If the problem goes away, you have an incompatible browser add-on installed.

2. With the warning that a reset will delete autocomplete data, such as
passwords and you will have to reinstall or re-enable browser add-ons, work

3. If you're running a third-party firewall or security suite with a
firewall, turn on the Windows Firewall (Control Panel. Windows Firewall) and
disable the third-party program to see if the issue resolves.If third-party
firewall is causing the problem, uninstalling/reinstalling that program may
help.
