Desktop Icons do not work

I recently downloaded and installed IE8. Unfortunately, my 8 year old DELL
could not handle it so I uninstalled it and reinstalled IE7. Since the
reinstallation of IE7 I am unable to access desktop icons that are directed
to websites such as financial institutions and clubs. I have tried to
reestablish those links but they do not work either. In addition I am unable
to access a website that is included in an email. How can I again be able to
access these websites from a desktop icon?

Please state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; Vista x64 SP2) when
posting to this newsgroup.

Uninstalling IE8 automatically returns the machine to the previous IE
version. If previous IE version was IE7, there was no need to "reinstall"
IE7.

By any chance did you use System Restore to "uninstall" IE8?
