IE 7 closes right after opening

I have had IE 7 for some time now and without warning I cannot keep
the browser open - a popup that tells me that IE has encountered a
problem and must close. The error signature is:

AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 7.0.6000.16850 ModName: mshtml.dll
ModVer: 7.0.6000.16850 Offset: 000c6099


Outlook Express has not been affected, but I am unable to get the
latest Windows Updates - the two reasons I use IE. I default browser
is Mozilla Firefox.

Is it possible to uninstall the IE application and reinstall it. I do
not find a listing for IE in Add/Remove or an uninstall within the IE
Program Folder?


I recently used the latest updates of CC Cleaner and Advanced System
Care and wonder if something was removed from IE that shouldn't have?

No one can guess what those programs did to your computer. Stay away
from 'optimization' programs. CCleaner is fine as a cache cleaner, don't
use its registry cleaner.

If you think your Registry needs to be "cleaned" or "repaired," read
