In addition to Bruce's advice I would like to add:
Sooner or later, you are going to want to or may need to upgrade
Internet Explorer, even if you ultimately choose another outfit's
browser to be your default. You may as well invest the time to
understand why you can't get Internet Explorer to work for you.
