Ie8 urlmon.dll crash at certain web sites / gogle toolbar searcghresults in new tab crash

I eventually solved my initial problem ( see my April posts for full
details) with advice from other forums

the fix was to remove all entires in IE8 restrcted web sites. found a
free utility which did this. I can now access all the pages thtat were
previously crashing. I had lots of restricted sites entires and
apparently this crashes the DLL - though it is still amystery to me
why only a few URLs were affected.

I still get a crash sometimes in module unknown when opening a link in
a new tab or when google toolbar search is set to show results in new
tab.

I'd like a fix for that if anyone knows of one

IN RE having a large number of sites running in Restricted Sites zone (à la
Spybot, SpywareBlaster & ZonedOut), KB969897 should have resolved that
issue. Is your computer fully-patched at Windows Update?

IN RE the crashes, make sure the latest version of Google Desktop/Toolbar is
installed.
