Installing to an Alternate Harddrive

I expected the install process to allow me to select which harddrive I
wanted to install to. But no such luck. So ... is there any way to get IE8
to install to a harddrive other than C:?

(I'm sure this has come up before but I don't know any decent way to search
newsgroups. I thought maybe bing, but not that I can see.)

Internet Explorer is part of the Windows operating system, and as such
it installs to the same partition where Windows is installed.

By contrast: Opera and Firefox, among other web browsers, are individual
programs. There are 'portable' versions of them that can install to an
external drive, e.g., a flash drive.

No, IE must be installed/located on the boot drive.
