Works here with IE7 and IE8 as of post time. Any error messages? Perhaps

The weird thing is: I'm able to connect to
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/default.aspx

but not
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/...dware/threads/

I dunno.....????

No trouble here: IE 8 on WinXP SP 3.

1) Does http://social.technet.microsoft.com work?

2) How about http://65.55.11.254/ (the ip address)? This one should at least
give a error message 'The web site you are trying to reach is not currently
available', but not a timeout error.

if 1 works, then it is a problem with the page
if 2 works but not 1, check your hosts file in
c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc for the line social.technet.microsoft.com
and remove it. Or the DNS server may have a problem
if 1 and 2 doesn't work, check that your firewall or gateway is not blocking
connections to the IP or domain

Post back on the results of (1) and (2) if still no go

1) No. Same result: not a "time out" per se (I was wrong in explaining it
that way earlier), but it just "hangs," with the progress bar stopping about
halfway. The IE8 animation-circle-thing keeps spinning away, though.

2) I DO get the "not currently available" message here.

There was nothing resembling that in the sys32\drivers\etc....

BUT.....I uninstalled my Linksys WUSB54G wireless adapter and installed a
TrendNet TEW-424UB I had laying around (in a different USB port) and
BINGO!....all is well again!

Soooo....I *guess* my problem is with the USB port, the Linksys unit, or the
cable connecting it.

If ever I'm in Singapore, I'll buy you a Sling....
