I have recently installed Vista SP2 and now yesterday's IE8 update. Now IE8
is not only incredibly sluggish, it is also highly unstable. Even freezing
for 15/20 seconds or so before releasing itself and completing the job asked
of it half a minute earlier. Basically, it is simply unusable. I am now
using Firefox as my default browser.
The only IE8 solution, I think, is to completely uninstall it and start
again.
Can anyone give me reliable info on how I should go about this?

After trying almost everything I finally uninstalled and went back to IE7.
Very puzzling. In use it would seem to be the wrong way around. IE7 is
multiple times faster and all my 'Links' open with a full size window
instead of the reduced size I could not cure IE8 of.
All my troubles with IE8 (apart from the reduced window size) began after
installing Vista SP2, 9th June, and the latest IE8 update (KB971180: 10th
June). I have always preferred IE over Firefox although the latter is now
catching up fast and in some areas has overtaken IE. I am sure there are
issues here MS needs to hunt down.
Have you come across any other users problems occurring after the SP2 and
IE8 updates?

No, Vincenzo. I'm afraid when IE7 played so well I decided to stick with it.
If I install IE8 complete after uninstalling, will I be able to go back to
IE7 if I'm not happy?

Yes: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/957700/en-us
"How do I uninstall or remove Internet Explorer 8?"
The computer will revert to Internet Explorer 7 and previously installed
Internet Explorer 7 security updates.
