Why does Internet Explorer7 open a hyperlink to a jpeg located on my HDD?
when I create a hyperlink to a jpeg image located on my hard drive, internet
explorer opens the image and not my default image editor?? I have looked at
my file type associated apps and everything seems to be in order.

I am using Office 97 + IE7 +XP SP3

I would have expected an image editor like Photoeditor, or windows fax and
picture viewer to open the image.

I have seen entries on the net from people who seem to have exactly this
problem.

Hyperlinks to any other file on my hard drive, will open with their default
app.

It is only jpegs that exhibit this behaviour in this way from hyperlinks and
i dont understand why.

please advise

- right click on the file (in explorer)
- choose 'open with', 'choose program'
- pick wanted application from list
- check 'always use this application'
- click 'OK'

P.S. the above descriptions are a bad translation from the dutch version
of WinXP... ;-)
