Subresync crashes when IE8 installed.
I was wondering if anything could be done to fix this problem.
Subresync is a popular subtitling program.
Here's some background:

Even though the post indicates IE8 beta, problem
also occurs in IE8 final.

Thanks for any info.

Did Subresync Support tell you that the application's supported in IE8
Final?

Re: Subresync crashes when IE8 installed.
Hello,
that version of Subresync has been around for a few years.
It's a simple utility that does the job, but no longer developed.

I've never heard of a version of IE breaking older apps.
Point is, if there's this one, they're may be others.
Does MS have a position on this?

For now, I will not be updating my second XP box to IE8.
I don't like the uncertainty re: lack of compatibility
with older apps.

Then you've probably never read any IE release notes with regard to
compatibility issues with Third Party software:

Release Notes for IE7:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/aa740486.aspx
Release Notes for IE8:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/dd441788.aspx

See Release Notes:

> Does MS have a position on this?

No one here works for or represents Microsoft, we are end users just like
yourself. Generally speaking, it's up to third party software vendors to
make there products compatible with IE.

Have you tried looking for another program(other than VobSub v2.23) to do
your Subtitle ripping. If VobSub is not longer being developed then I don't
hold out any hope of you finding a resolution to this problem other than
that which you've already stated.

Good luck,

Donald Anadell

Re: Subresync crashes when IE8 installed.
Thanks for the link to IE8's release notes.
It does mention some programs / add-ons, but they're all
items that run in or with IE8. I couldn't find anything on programs
in the class I'm talking about - ie. programs not directly related to IE.

As I said, for now, I will leave one XP box on IE7 for as long as this
situation is unresolved. (I use Firefox mostly anyway)

I realize the group is mostly populated by volunteers, but there was
always the off chance that a document existed from MS, that
somebody knew about, to explain this issue.

Regards,
Dave
