Re: Installed IE8 yesterday...now can't get to allmusic.com
To keep track of things, it helps immensely if you quote all of the previous
message(s) in your replies to the newsgroup. Thank you.

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your
subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)?
What third-party firewall (if any)? Were any of these applications running
in the background when you installed IE8?

Has a Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on this machine
(e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought it)?

Do you have an available Restore Point which predates the install of IE8?
(Just asking for now)

Re: Installed IE8 yesterday...now can't get to allmusic.com
McAfee Security Center (all updates in place)

Security Tools include:

Advanced SystemCare
Spybot
PC Health Optimizer

Depending on the quality of the release McAfee and Symantec have been loaded
- but never together, and all risidual uninstall files are deleted.

I'm sitting behind an encrpyted router

All security tests - pings, ports etc. pass.

Plenty of restore points.

Again, this is the only site so far that I have tested and cannot get to it.
The site (Allmusic.com) can be accessed by other systems in the house.

Thanks

If you disable the McAfee firewall and enable the Windows Firewall, does the
behavior persist?

After uninstalling any earlier McAfee and Norton applications, did you also
download/run the appropriate removal tools before installing another
anti-virus application or security suite?

Are you aware of the deleterious effects Spybot's Immunizations can have on
IE8 [1]?

IN RE Advanced SystemCare & PC Health Optimizer: If you think your Registry
needs to be "cleaned" or "repaired," read
http://aumha.net/viewtopic.php?t=28099 and draw your own conclusions.

The above notwithstanding:

1. Does the behavior persist if you attempt to access allmusic.com in
Compatibility Mode?

2. Does the behavior persist if you start IE in No Add-ons mode? To start
IE in No Add-ons mode:

=> Right-click on the blue IE desktop icon and select Start without
Add-ons; or

=> Start | (All) Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Internet
Explorer (No add-ons).

Troubleshooting and Internet Explorer’s (No Add-ons) Mode:
http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2006/07/25/678113.aspx

3. Does the behavior persist if you Reset IE Advanced settings (RIES)?
