IE8 32-bit browser on Vista 64-bit PC

64-bit IE8 works fine on my 64 bit Vista PC.
32-bit IE8 won't connect (even to the router). When click on diagnose
connection problems, message returned is "Windows cannot find any problems
with the network connection". Any ideas gratefully received
