Toolbar missing

I am using IE 7, and Windows XP Home Edition, and my IE toolbar is missing.

I also cannot download a fix or an upgrade. When I attempt to download all
that happens is the screen blinks and then displays the thank you for
downloading screen. Nothing has been downloaded.

I have attempted to perform the Microsoft suggested registry fix, but when I
get to the point where I am to delete the value for the taskbar, there is no
line item for taskbar value.

Any suggestions?

What toolbar specifically are you referring to?.....
The Internet Explorer command bar which contains the home, rss feeds,
print button, etc
Some third party tool bar like the google or msn toolbars

The taskbar is part of windows, not Internet Explorer - is that what you're
having trouble with?
What 'fix or upgrade' are you attempting to download? When the screen
blinks is there a yellow security warning at the top of the web page?

Since when?

Reset IE at Internet Options/Advancved. Do you use some kind of ad blocking?

Near the top of IE, right-clip an empty spot below the Address Bar. A menu
should pop up whose first item is "Menu Bar". Maybe checking something will
solve your problem. Phil
