Error Message in IE 8 ~ Help Please

I have searched and cannot find any help with this problem:
Every time I open IE8 the View and Manage IE Add ons box pops up saying the
Search Providers are messed up. It won't let me change anything, won't let
me do anything. I wanted google as my default search provider and I cannot
change it. I just have to close the box. It is very frustrating for this
to happen every time I open IE. Thanks in advance for your help.
