Office 2007 and IE 8

I tried the make Office 2007 the default mail client and it doesn't work.

You mean Outlook 2007 don't you? Do you have Outlook 2007 installed?

I have XP Home SP3. I have Office Outlook 2007.
IIE 8 will not use Office Outlook .

1. Select Outlook as the default email program in Set Program Access and
Defaults.

2. Select OL as the default in IE Tools | Internet Options | Programs |
Email.

3. Select Outlook as the default email program in OL Tools | Options |
General.

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed, is your
subscription current, and is it supported in IE8? What anti-spyware
applications (other than Defender)? What third-party firewall (if any)?
Were any of these applications running in the background when you installed
IE8?

Has a Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on this machine
(e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought it)?
