can't change home page

I recently installed IE-7 on XP. On opening explorer it wants to go to a
microsoft site and says cannot find. I change the home page to the site i
want and it goes ok. On starting explorer the next time it goes back to the
microsoft address and not the wanted home page.

Have you tried a Google search on the URL shown in the Address bar when
then happens?

Pick one:

A blank Web page is displayed when you start IE7 [or IE8; ignore the title]
