IE8 bugs, had to uninstall, even corrupted Windows Explorer
I had 3 problems that made me have to remove IE8.
Some web pages don't quite work right, such as Hulu.com - the Esc button
does not bring it out of full screen mode.
Holding Ctrl while clicking a link opens another tab, but the page never
loads there. It just says connecting.
Worst of all, it broke Windows Explorer so that all folders open in a new
window regardless of my setting for that option.
Uninstalling IE8 fixed that.

Re: IE8 bugs, had to uninstall, even corrupted Windows Explorer
What anti-virus application or security suite is installed, is your
subscription current. and is it supported in IE8 yet? What anti-spyware
applications (other than Defender)? What third-party firewall (if any)?
Were any of these applications running in the background when you installed
IE8?
Has a Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on this machine
(e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought it)?

F11 is the keyboard key one uses to toggle 'Fullscreen' mode.
'Hope this helps,

Doh! Yes, of course I forgot to disable my McAfee Security Center (which they
no longer make especially easy). I usually don't have to disable that. It
does all that stuff. I have no idea whether or not that is supposed to work
or have problems with IE8.
As for Hulu, it has it's own full screen functionality, not the F11 thing.
Firefox works fine.

RE: IE8 bugs, had to uninstall, even corrupted Windows Explorer
I had the same problem when I installed IE8 on Windows Vista 64-bit Ultimate.
New tabs didn't load anything, just said connecting, Windows Explorer always
opened new windows, and inprivate browsing did not open a new window and
never changed the toolbar.
I first uninstalled and and tried to reinstall it with no success. I had a
random thought to run it as administrator. So I right clicked on Internet
Explorer and selected run as administrator. (I had to go under All Programs
and find it first) and then clicked continue. To my amazement the new tab
worked. So I closed internet explorer and opened it normally. The new tabs
worked great, InPrivate browsing worked great, and Windows explorer now
opened the folders properly in the same window.
I tried hulu.com on mine and esc closed the full screen. I don't know if it
was broken before though.

Re: IE8 bugs, had to uninstall, even corrupted Windows Explorer
AFAIK, no version of McAfee Security Center or any other McAfee application
is supported in IE8 yet, Roman.
