IE7 Freezes Randomly, Using Vista Ultimate 64-bit + Home Page Load Problem + IE 64-bit Flash Player Problem
I'm using IE7 in Vista Ultimate 64-bit, but I'm currently only using
the 32-bit version of IE7. And I have a couple problems:

1. My home page often doesn't load when I start IE7... However when I
click on Refresh it almost always loads.

2. Randomly I can be surfing and IE freezes. I have mouse control but
nothing on the IE page or header registers when mousing-over or
clicking. Task Manager initially says IE is running. I will End Task
and then the task updates that it is not running. Sometimes only that
page closes down leaving IE on my homepage running and the TM saying
that it is indeed running and IE registers the mouse actions.
Sometimes IE shuts down completely and I close TM. I'll immediately
restart IE and all will be well. I've applied all available Microsoft
Updates.

3. Concerning IE7 64-bit. The main reason I have not been using IE7
64-bit is because numerous pages requiring Flash Player don't work
because Flash Player (I think) does not load/run properly in 64-bit
IE7. Adobe seems to have no interest in fixing this problem if it is
their problem? As near as I can tell this has been going on since
day-one of MS releasing IE 64-bit. Will this be different if MS
releases an IE8 64-bit?

Thanks.

I am having the same issue with the 32 bit version. My IE often freezes on
opening and will not respond. If however I try the 64 bit version it works
like a charm. Now, as far as I know the only difference in the two is the
flash plugin. I have not that I recall added anything other than tool bars.
I might delete the lot of tool bars and try it, but none are selected, but
are enabled. I would like a solution also. I have used Firefox for quite a
while, but had once again started using IE and enjoying it.

Sorry I missed your previous post in another thread on A1 and A2. I've
got one of 'em printed out and I'll start going through it. Thanks.

I don't understand what you are saying for A3. I know what WYSIWYG
but it doesn't seem very helpful. I'll make a guess that until Adobe
decides to make a Flash Player 64-bit version IE7 64-bit is generally
useless and more trouble then its worth unless used in specific 64-bit
browsing that doesn't need or use the 32-bit only Flash Player??

Re: IE7 Freezes Randomly, Using Vista Ultimate 64-bit + Home Page Load Problem + IE 64-bit Flash Player Problem
There is a known problem with Adobe Flash 10 causing IE7 to freeze randomly.
The failing module is Flash10a.ocx
According to reports on adobe.com forum Adobe must have been aware of this
error at least since early November 2008, but so far no solution seems to
having been provided.

regards Sven

Interesting as always as things work their way out of the woodwork...
I only noticed it recently but have been using Vista 64-bit for
several months now. It seems to be working fine today since I cleaned
out all the caches and cookies, etc. yesterday. If and when it acts
up again that will be my ongoing solution whether it is effective or
not.

I'm a little bit disappointed in Adobe. Flash Player has another
problem running in IE7 64-bit too that they don't seem to eager to
work on and fix. Maybe they shouldn't have bought out whomever it was
now that owned Flash Player previously?
