Hi,
Windows XP or Vista?
1. You may have an incompatible browser add-on installed.
For troubleshooting information see:
928426- Internet Explorer 7 may exit immediately when it includes an add-on

2. In Task Manager, are nview.exe or nwiz.exe listed? They're part of the
NVIDIA Control Panel and have caused problems with tabs. The nvidia control
panel is not necessary and can be disabled from Run> msconfig> Startup tab.
3. If the problem is not caused by an add-on, look for a third-party program
as the cause.
