restore deleted history
Well, I'm hoping to find a genius out there to help me!
A few days ago I was having trouble refreshing an image in my browser (IE7)
that was supposed to be newer on a website than what was showing on my screen.
Typically, I go in to Tools>Internet Options>General>Delete Browsing
History>Temporary Internet Files and it clears it out. Then I reopen the
browser to view the refreshed image, as opposed to a cached one. However,
this time I hit the Delete History button instead. I happened to notice it
was deleting my browser history by my own fault and hit the cancel button
immediately. When I went back to look at my history, I found that I only had
the current week and weeks 54-57 still in my tab for history. I have not
found any way to actually restore after doing several searches.
I DID, however, find the folder in
C:\Users\(user)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Hi story and ALL OF THE
HISTORY IS THERE!!! From today all the way back to 56 weeks (oddly, not 57,
as in IE7). Now, I'm not completely disheartened because I apparentely
haven't lost the DATA, per say... just the ability to see it correctly
displayed in Internet Explorer.
I'm wondering if anyone knows how to repair this to get all that information
back into IE7. Perhaps a registry edit or a file?
So far, I've tried using my last 5 restore points with no luck. Each time, I
can see the same view I have now (weeks 54-57 and up to the date that I
restored to). I've also looked around for files on my comptuer that might
have been affected. In the C:\Users\(user)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows
folder, I saw two files... UsrClass.dat with today's date and
UsrClass.dat_previous with the date that I hit delete.
Any help from anyone out there would be GREATLY appreciated!
