Not Prompted to Specify Download Folder for File

How can I fix IE 7 on Vista Home OS to again allow me to select the folder to
download to. Somehow I lost this when doing a download of a zip file. I can
only automatically go to the temporary folder then "allow" WinZip to open and
then must extract the contents. This works (for now) but it is very annoying.
I searched MS KnowledgeBase and KB article 177976 seemed to fit. However,
its instructions don't work for IE 7 (or maybe Vista!) and that article is
now "retired".

Help is appreciated.

This worked for ie8 and windows 7

As Windows7 does not have the File Types tab in the Folder Options applet,
you need to edit the registry in order to reset the Open/Save choice made
earlier in Internet Explorer.

1. Click Start, type Regedit.exe and press ENTER

2. Navigate to the following branch:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ Shell \
AttachmentExecute \ {0002DF01-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}

3. In the right-pane, right-click on the appropriate entry and choose Delete

4. Exit the Registry Editor.
