SRV records and IE 6/7/8

Will Internet Explorer, any version, use the DNS SRV entries (service
records) like Active Directory uses and now Outlook 2007?
_http._tcp can be setup on AD DNS and Bind, but cannot locate anywhere that
says IE works and uses these.

We are ready to roll out a common URL for Proxy configuration and have it
hosted on multiple sites for load/failover. DNS round-robin works with host
records but leaves room for failure, and the SRV _http records resolve that,
if IE can use it.
