Flash player not being allowed

I have Adobe Flash player installed on my computer and have not had any
problems until recently when all the flash sites stopped working, saying I
don't have flash or my javascript is not enabled. On the internet options
security tab it says it is enabled and I definitely do have flash player.
When I click the button saying I need to download the player it just says
that it is successfully installed and the page still does not show up. Why
is my flash player not working?
