Internet Explorer for Windows vista does not close

I am having a problem with my internet explorer. I am running on Windows
Vista. Everytime I try to close the internet, the page freezes (but, i can
still open a new tab). The program wont close unless I press ctrl+alt+delete
and go to the task manager. Any suggestions?
