Renaming favorite makes unavailable
When I rename a favorite, the renamed link does not appear. The original is
still there, but when you click on it I'm told that the link doesn't exist.
The renamed link doesn't appear until IE is totally shut down and restarted.
If you have several tabs of research going, that's a royal pain. This is
with the Vista operating system.

Still where? If you are getting an entry from the internal TypedURLs
list then there would be no reason for that to change, it's just a string
there.

Makes sense. That's when things would be more synchronized.
However, again, there would have been nothing done to correct
an error caused by TypedURLs. So I guess this proves that
you aren't getting your entry that way. ; )

Well, you could save them as a group and restart that group
or perhaps you could just start a new IE task (new PID).
I understand that Vista users can get a new task for different
security zones so perhaps just starting an https session
would be sufficient?

Also, what happens if you re-index your Favorites with Windows Search?
Using WS to enhance the Address bar function will be a new feature
with IE8 but I don't know if Vista users are already getting some of that
service now in IE7.

Good luck
