Explain this symbol
I'm accustomed to the WinXP Home, IE7 display occasionally showing an
hourglass while the computer is running a behind the scene process. But
recently I've noticed a similar delay but with the display showing a red
circle with a diagonal line through it - like a European "no parking" sign.
Functionally the computer behaves as though it were an hourglass - nothing
works until the symbol disappears

Just curious.
