Content changes between tab switches
Hi Folks,

I need urgent help due to a display issue where the rendering of a page
changes when you simply move to another tab, load a new link in that tab and
then when you return to the original tab text and form element are moved
across the page to the left. They even continue to move left when simply
changing drop-down options.

Both html and css passes W3C validation and I can ONLY replicate problem on
IE7.

Only even slightly related information I can find online is the following :-

http://www.techsupportforum.com/micr...ween-tabs.html

Which is of little help because a fix requiring users to empty their temp
files is not solution for a production E-Commerce site.

I need urgent advice on what could be causing this problem.

To test issue

Open the following page (where the problem exists), then open another tab,
display a website (for example news.bbc.co.uk) switch back to tab and then
right hand content will move left over the top of image. Reloading the page
will revert page back to correct display

I have sometimes seen this due to IE bugs similar to the peekaboo bugs,
even in IE7. You may want to try the same remedies.

Thanks for the info.

Have tried adding "min-width: 0px;" to relevant divs and the body and it
appears to make no difference.

There are many ways of fixing peekaboo-type bugs, and which one(s) will
work will depend on the circumstances.

Try things like: setting line-height of text; setting position:relative
in the block around the affected area; getting rid of floats. I'm sure
there are more approaches, I just don't remember right now. You can
research it.

BTW, if you have a peekaboo-type problem with IE7, you may also with
IE6. You should check this.

Re: Content changes between tab switches
Hi Phil,

What are you using AJAX for? AJAX navigation? (looks like it is used to add
option buttons to the DOM)

Using Fiddler I see requests going to
http://207.46.110.19/gateway/gateway...4.14790 73204

tracert 207.46.110.19 times out!

You can download the Fiddler tool (http header inspector) from
fiddlertool.com

You should be able to troubleshoot your page by placing the domain in your
Restricted sites zone to disable scripting and then seeing if you can
reproduce the problem.

Also try switching on cacheing on your Apache server.

There is something strange with your DNS mapping too. I live in Australia
and get routed first to Dallas, then Washington, then to Paris, then to
Frankfurt and then finally smtp.tlcsport.co.uk (geo-location Washington
State USA). Your site is exceeding slow to load for me.

Regards.

Re: Content changes between tab switches
Thanks for looking Rob but that request you quoted below is almost certainly
unrelated.

The IP address concerned belongs to Microsoft, traceroute probably times due
to that service being firewalled for security reasons.

Name: by2msg1104008.phx.gbl
Address: 207.46.110.19

As its address contains "msg" is probably relates to Messenger.

As for routing to site, website is located in Germany so routing of "first
to Dallas, then Washington, then to Paris, then to Frankfurt and then
finally smtp.tlcsport.co.uk" sounds perfectly correct. Not sure why site
takes long time to load though.

Looks increasingly like I may have to live with the problem.

Re: Content changes between tab switches
Hi Phil,

Did you try without scripting enabled. Sorry for the miss-leads. I revisited
your site this morning
http://www.tlcsport.info/product_det...p?imgref=H0060

and I can't reproduce the problem. Did you fix it?

Regards.
