Upgrading in hopes of fixing an existing problem is seldom a good idea.
Uninstall IE8 Beta 2 before proceeding below!

Now, are you running Vista or Vista SP1 (or Vista SP2 beta) currently?
What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your
subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)?
What third-party firewall (if any)?
Are all other Internet Options tabs fully functional and fully populated?
