IE is not working and neither is Live messenger

I am having a big big problem with IE and Live messenger. It kept coming up
with an error message saying something like 'Windows Live platform' not
....... and then the error code 0x8000ffff or something like that saying
critical error. We have tried to take off IE and Messenger off and reloading
but I think in error I must have removed/uninstalled something I shouldn't.

I am nearly ready to launch the laptop through the window.... please help.

I even purchased Reg Cure to try and help but nothing...

Please state your IE version and full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3;
Vista SP1) when posting to this newsgroup.

You may have gone and shot yourself in the foot by running Reg Cure. Think
your Registry needs "cleaning" or "repairing"? Read
