IE7 Bookmarks (Favorites) update "date modified" at each access

This has never happened before with Internet Explorer. I sort my favorites by
"date modified." Just clicking on a .url file SHOULD NOT modify the file
itself, so why does this happen? How do I stop this from happening? Is there
any way to do this other than changing every .url file to "read only" ??
