IE 7 Difficulty in loading

When I try to open IE 7, in the status bar a magnifying glass type icon (with
ip address numbers)appears and nothing happens for a long time. I have to
close and open several times before it works. I had Microsoft search 4 which
I removed by editing the registry as it was described in the forum. I can't
find version 3 of Windows Search.
Could that be the cause.

I can *assure* you that your IE7 issue and Windows Update issues are
related.
