XP Home ed. SP3 ...all up to date.
My main (Intel based) desktop PC exhibits the following behaviour, ...my
"other" (AMD based) desktop PC doesn't.
It's to do with how a web page scriptlets, (specifically on
www.ebuyer.com),
behave.
Specifically, e.g. after selecting a product category e.g. "Sound and
Vision" | "Monitors" ...and that page loads | and then selecting "Show All
Monitors",
....now available on this web-page are two "drop down" menus - "Show 10, 20
or 50 items" and "Sort by Popularity, Category, Sub-Category, Brand,
Price-Highest, Price-Lowest and Rating."
....It's these that are sluggish, work intermittently, and after selecting
from either of these two drop-down options, they can take a good five
seconds or more to work, and one has to wait a good several seconds for
IE7's blue progress bar (on IE7's status bar) to complete before making
another selection from either of those two drop-down menus, or the selection
is ignored.
This has been going on for weeks and weeks, and lots of times I've made
efforts to pin it down with no luck.
I've tried matching IE7 settings with those in my "other" PC, (that does not
exhibit this behaviour),
....and I've tried lots of other things like installing the latest Java
runtime from SUN,
....resetting IE7 Security settings to default, (
www.ebuyer.com has been
added to Trusted Sites list).
....disengaging all IE7 toolbar plug-ins and add-ons.
....IE7 phishing filter is off.
....Pop-up blocker is off.
....both XP Home ed. SP3 platforms do not have the Microsoft JVM, Build 3805
& 3810 installed, and "other" PC has never had Sun Java runtime
installed....
...."main" PC retains the problem with Sun Java runtime either installed, or
uninstalled.
....any tips would be greatly appreciated.
TIA
regards, Richard
