internet exployer error
I'm running widows xp and was running internet exployer 7. Recently I've
started getting an error when I open my browser. It is: The instruction at
"0x04a3c838" referenced memory at "0x00000001". The memory could not be
"written". I've tried changing to exployer 8 but still same problem. I also
have outlook lock up when trying to view html email. I tried running a
program microsoft had to check my memory to see if I had a hardware problem.
It showed everything was okay. Does anyone have any suggestions I could try?

Do a thorough check for malware, following all of the steps at one of these
Web pages, including HijackThis.
Help with malware:
All MS-MVP Sites.

Unexplained computer behavior may be caused by deceptive software.

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing programs like Messenger Plus,
whose ads for malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince
you that you owe it to the author. See also:

Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see
what else is being carried along. Don't install any extras you're not sure
of.
