IE Internet Icon goes to Internet Explorer cannot display the webp

When I click on the Internet Explorer icon on the desktop, my computer logs
onto the internet, but doesn't show my homepage, instead it goes to -
"Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". Then I click "Home" in the
browser (IE 7) and it goes to my homepage. I've reset Explorer, made sure my
homepage hasn't been changed and tried different start pages, all with the
same result. This is a nuisance and was not the case before. Does anyone
have a similar situation and is there a remedy?
