Hi,
Windows XP?
Go to IE> Tools> Manage add-ons. If you see an add-on which might be causing
this, disable it. The add-on may not be named "Ask." Try disabling various
add-ons.
Next step... Go to
http://toolbar.google.com Download the Google toolbar
(Version 5) After installing the toolbar go to Options (down arrow next to
the Google button)> Search tab> (select) Make Google my default search in
Internet Explorer.
Possible complication:
A number of security programs such as
Spybot (Advanced Mode) Tools> IE Tweaks
Spybot- Teatimer
Ad-aware Pro
Norton AV 2006 (Web Browsing > Spyware protection)
McAfee AV or Antispyware
Spyware Blaster
Spysweeper
Zone Alarm- free and pro.
Are capable of locking the IE homepage and other IE settings. If you can't
change the default search engine, see if a security program is blocking the
change.
Hope this helps,
Don
