Clear History Items

In Internet Explorer, I use Clear History Option in Tools > Internet Options
menue. but I dont know why not all items deleted from history, several items
remain in the history folder. Please tell me how to remove all items at once.

Which version of Windows? (Including SP level- SP1,SP2,etc.)
Which version of Internet Explorer?
Is a particular type of History item not cleared?
