Please set the DEFAULT of IE7 option "Enable automatic image resizing" to
OFF, to be
compatible with previous IE versions.
I've been putting history materials online for the public for over a decade.
When
presenting a higher-resolution map image, I've been depending upon IE to let
the image exceed the screen size so the reader can scroll over the map.
Typical readers of historical and genealogical material are older adults who
are reluctant to change browser options, for fear they will inadvertantly
cause their PC to stop working.
I understand a left-click will enlarge a resized image, but I discovered it
only by
accident. Also, it would then take two clicks to get the large image and I
will have to add an explanation to all my web sites.
Backward compatibility of the browsers is vital to the longivity of millions
of pages of
online material.
