Back Button less responsive in last few weeks?

Has anybody else experienced the Back Button not working as well for the last
couple of weeks or so? It is like the click often doesn't take, and you have
to do it again. I started noticing it on both my home computer (vista) and my
work computer (xp) at the same time a few weeks ago, but had no problems for
the previous year and a half. (This is different than redirects or pop-ups
making it seem like you are stuck on a page.)

If you have ad-blocking software, including the HOSTS file, you will get this problem.
If you click on the down arrow next to the back button, you will find that it is trying to go
through a series of blocked ads.
