IE icon disappeared

After upgrading Internet Explorer 7, the IE icon disappeared. Could you tell
me how to made it shown on the desktop?

The icon was removed from the desktop to be in compliance with legal
agreements. It can be manually re-created, however.

DESKTOP ICON MISSING

Create and merge this registry file:

1. Copy below and paste into Notepad.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\HideDesktopIcons\NewStartPanel]
"{871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D}"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\CLSID\{871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D}\ShellFolder]

2. Save-as IE_Restore_Desktop_Icon.reg (or any name + .reg)
3. Double-click or right-click and merge into the registry.
4. Press F5 or right-click and Refresh the Desktop.
