Easy Solution for Missing Icon IExplorer

START -- CONTROL PANEL -- FOLDER OPTIONS -- VIEW -- on HIDDEN FILES AND
FOLDERS change option to SHOW HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS.
APPLY -- OK

START -- MY COMPUTER -- WINDOWS -- find your version of iexplorer OPEN --
find icon -- RIGHT CLICK -- SENT TO -- DESKTOP (create a shortcut) -- CLOSE
WINDOWS.

Reverse changes made to FOLDER OPTIONS. (optional)

The first time you use the icon you will receive an error message -- Click
on FIX IT.

OK That is all!

Create and merge this registry file:

1. Copy below and paste into Notepad.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\HideDesktopIcons\NewStartPanel]
"{871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D}"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\CLSID\{871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D}\ShellFolder]
"Attributes"=dword:00000000

2. Save-as IE_Restore_Desktop_Icon.reg (or any name + .reg)
3. Double-click or right-click and merge into the registry.
4. Press F5 or right-click and Refresh the Desktop.
