IE7 hangs when opening from a shortcut

I've recently upgraded from IE6 to IE7. When I open IE7 thru a website
shortcut, IE7 just hangs half open. I then have to close the half opened IE7
and send the error report off. IE6 worked fine when opening thru a website
shortcut. Does anyone have a solution please ?

1. With the warning that a reset will delete autocomplete data, such as
passwords and you will have to reinstall browser add-ons, work through this

2. Do you need to reconfigure a third-party firewall to allow IE7 to access
the internet? Some firewalls will recognize that IE7 is a new program and
will ask- some won't.

3. 926431- Error message when you start IE7 or try to access a website:

4. The troublesome third-party program may not be a browser add-on:
936214- How to troubleshoot compatibility problems that affect IE7 in
Windows Vista:
