IE 7 always crashing

The IE 7 is always crashing and restarting on my laptop. It works fine on my
desktop puter. I'm done messing with it and am sticking with firefox for
laptop use.

Do not use Automatic/Windows Update for downloading/installing IE7!

Activate Windows Update after installing IE7 to download/install pertinent

This is probably being caused by incompatible third-party programs, possibly
legitimate programs, possibly malware.

the desktop is xp media center edition, the laptop is vista and came with IE7
