You probably installed a service pack for your OS after that,
so you would then have to uninstall that before you could see
the version of IE that you had installed.

Why would you leave it installed then and add a service pack on top of it? ; }

You would have noticed the same symptom if you had installed XPsp3
over IE8b1. ; )
