IE8 - Address Bar does not "drop down"

I have IE8 Beta 2 on XP SP3.

The address bar, when clicking on the drop down arrow does not open up
anything ... even after visiting 10 different sites.

Any idea on cause / solution?

Microsoft Help & Support directs IE8 Beta users to the wrong newsgroup.
