Missing toolbar, address bar, command bar in IE7
I'm running XP Pro SP3 and IE7. No other toolbars are installed. Typical
Acrobat, Java and Shockwave add-ons are running. Everything was working fine
until I installed Office 2007 Professional. Now, the first time I load IE7 I
have no toolbar, command bar, address bar, etc. at the top of the screen -
just a full screen of my home page content. Not running in full screen
mode...pressing F11 does nothing but give me a screen artifact at the top of
the screen where the missing bars should be. Doesn't matter how I load
IE7...shortcut menu...desktop shortcut...program menu. If I close IE7 and
reopen it everthing appears as normal. Problem happens everytime I load IE7
for the first time after booting up.

I've already reinstalled IE7 hoping that would fix it. It didn't.

Have already edited registry to delete the value for
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Toolbar\WebBrowser/ITBarLayout and for
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Toolbar\ShellBrowser\ITBarLayout. Didn't fix it.

Since only system change was the install of Office 2007 Professional, I've
also tried the Repair function for that. No change. Have already run
Windows Update to make sure that all critical Windows and Office updates have
been installed.

Suggestions?

Check the state of the window in each case using the window's menu.
E.g. press Alt-Space. What do you see?

I just gave up and rebuilt the entire drive. Hopefully, that fixes it.
