Favourites are missing...

Help, my favourites have all of a sudden gone missing in Internet Explorer. I
cannot find them anywhere ! Any ideas anyone ??

Is this a contest to see how well we can solve a problem with as little
information as possible?
IE version?
Windows version and Service Pack level?
What third party security programs do you have running?

Hi, thanks for replying. I am using internet explorer 7, and windows vista
home premium. I use avg anti virus, spybot and windows defender.

I am experiencing the same problem with the same system - I note this thread
was in August - was it ever resolved,? If so, how?

Try these 2 tips:

Favorites Missing and/or
Change the Location for Favorites

Go to this Registry key and check the path for the value "Favorties":

Windows XP:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders]
"Favorites"="C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Favorites"

Windows Vista:

In the Start Menu's Search box, or in the Run command, enter: shell:Favorites
The folder should be recreated immediately, if not then after a restart.


Favorites Menu is Missing or Greyed Out

Go to these Registry keys and, if found, delete the value "NoFavorites"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\policies\Internet Explorer]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\policies\Internet Explorer]
