Unfortunately, nothing there helps. One item addresses the issue
tangentially. This is the same problem you responded to in "IE7 Digest
suthentication continually ask password". Please look at my reply there.
There's a timeout somewhere. After 5-10 minutes of navigating around a
Digest HTTPS site, the user is forced to re-authenticate. IE7 is even worse,
as "Automatic logon" does not appear to work, as the authentication challenge
is presented with every frame on a page. Apparently, IE6 would try to
Automaticaly logon and only present the challenge if it failed. IE& presents
the challenge first. This is a BUG.
