Favorites missing from IE7

It looks like there was a recent update to Windows (my PC is set for
automatics updates) and now when I open IE and look in Favorites, the
original default links are present - none of my bookmarks or folders are
there.

I can see them on my PC under C:\Documents and Settings\Kathy \Favorites.
How do I get them back under the IE menu? I am running XP SP3 as my OS. IE is
version 7.0.5730.13.

Any help would be soooo appreciated!

This would not be caused by an update from Microsoft. There's more to
the story here. Any other clues you can offer us?

I'm having kinda the same problem, only worse, my Favorites were somehow overwritten by those original default links, so they are just gone. Do you actually still have yours in the Favorites folder? FWIW, I found this earlier post: news:<5C26C1C0-C803-46F6-A85F-F17A3CE44038@microsoft.com> that I don’t really want to try, but it might work. You should be able to export your favorites to another file and import them back to Favorites, but my system is somehow messed up there too and I can't even import them from another computer here.

OOPS:
Finally figured out that we changed the registry so everyone on our LAN could use the same Favorites file and then switched the main computer out which changed the path, so the registry was just wrong. So I've recovered from that fiasco.
