Internet Explorer doesn't see my internet connection

I can't load anything in Internet Explorer 7 (for Vista,) it says I'm not
connected to the internet. But clearly, I am. Help?

And how do you know that "clearly you are" connected to the internet? Do
other internet-reliant programs (such as email) work?

Well, the fact that I'm posting this from the same computer, using firefox,
makes it pretty clear to me. Every other program that uses the internet
works, just not IE.
